An amnesiac tries to understand his past in this creepy puzzle mystery from Trilobyte developers. The game was one of the first full motion video based puzzle games, which used live action video clips as the core of its gameplay. The game was also noted for its adult content and for being one of the games that kickstarted the CD-ROM drive’s success for games, music and movies. AS one of the first games for the PC to be available only on CD-ROM since it was too large to be distributed on floppy disc, it is seen as a “killer app”, an application that killed off the previously but now outdated application. It is one of the scarier games of any time, with you wandering a mysterious mansion trying to solve puzzles and find out your sordid history.

Alone in the Dark

One of the first survival horror games, “Alone in the Dark” spawned a number of sequels but is mainly known for being a precursor to games like “Resident Evil” and “Silent Hill,” which upped the ante in survival horror and terror. This Lovecraft inspired game is set in a Louisiana mansion in 1925, where you are investigating a suicide and also looking for a piano reported to be in the building that a antique dealer wants. After you discover the horror at the root of the house, your character tries to escape with his life by avoiding zombies and Lovecraftian elder Gods.
